Mamba - NBA Media Search

Mamba stands for Media Asset Management Broadcast Assistant and is an agentic LLM (Large Language Model) that directly supports NBA statistical and media search. Mamba can be accessed at https://mam.pvlivesports.com/

Mamba is currently limited to 1P employees and specific 3P approved domains working for Amazon. Mamba is also tied into Okta for 2-factor authentication.

How do you use Mamba? 

Log in and enter a semantic search specifically for NBA statistics. Users can ask questions about the current season or historical seasons using natural language and Mamba will process the prompt and provide a statistically-based response. The data source that Mamba uses is not the internet or any publicly facing dataset. It leverages an internal database of NBA historical data to process the user’s prompt and utilizes that database as its primary source to provide a response. 

Mamba uses an agentic framework, so it has access to various tools to process the user’s questions and to provide a response. It also has access to game clips in the Iconik database, so once it provides a statistical answer, it can link to those clips in Iconik with relevant media assets that match the response. These are provided back to the user as direct links to media in Iconik.

A typical workflow in Mamba is as follows:

• A user asks Mamba a question focused on NBA statistics or historical facts
• Mamba converts their prompt into a SQL query that it can use to look up the answer in its database.
• Mamba responds back to the user with a text-based response answering their question to the best of its ability
• Mamba will provide links to media in Iconik for plays that are within the response if they are available
• The user can then view the media in Iconik, download the asset directly or create an Iconik collection to organize the clips and view them in the Iconik MAM

Some things that Mamba can’t do

• Mamba can’t use general semantic search like Twelvelabs which is a multi-modal model. It’s search capability is limited to the league statistical data from the NBA’s API. 
• Mamba can’t provide real-time data availability. A live game will be 20 minutes delayed from real-time due to  data processing requirements.
