In Culver City, live ingests are initiated using a Telestream Light Speed ingest cluster which has 56 channels of simultaneous recording capability. The PVLS house format is XAVC Class 100 1080p 60. These files are written to the TruNAS storage where they are accessible as growing files in Premiere. Editors can use these growing files to cut highlights during the game. Once a file is imported into Premiere it will update throughout the game until the file closes upon record stoppage.
Editors will utilize the PVLS Adobe extension panel to link their game clips to the NBA live data feed, allowing quick filtering of plays within a game.
Once a record is stopped in Telestream Light Speed, a workflow will initiate to ingest the finished clip into Iconik. The ingest process required to provide a user accessible file in Iconik is fairly quick, but that workflow doesn’t start until Telestream is no longer recording the feed. Once the clip registers into Iconik, a variety of media workflows are applied to the assets to make them searchable.
